Horse Powertrain is a new major player in the automotive industry. A world leading powertrain solutions provider built on a 125 year heritage from Renault Group, Geely and Volvo Cars. Launching a new joint business worldwide they needed a brand to lead the way in redefining their journey forward.
A new brand. With 125 years of experience.
Renault started out in 1898. Geely in 1997. Volvo Cars, now with the Geely Group as a majority owner, built their first engine in 1907. When these automotive giants decided to join forces and spin out their global powertrain operations into a new independent business, under a new brand, the stakes were high. And the new strategy needed to handle a fast changing industry, a diverse global market, three distinctly different cultures and 19 000 employees spread out over three continents.
One global brand
We set out to make Horse Powertrain a truly global brand. Aligning the different leadership teams and striking a fine balance between what's important in Hangzhou with what matters in Paris. We reframed the dual and diverse heritage with a comprehensive brand strategy, brand architecture and brand identity. Turning it into a cross-cultural brand to power global sales, marketing, innovation and culture into the future.

The new brand sets a clear direction. With both strategy and identity built around one common idea: Responsibly setting millions of people in motion, all over the world, every day. The new brand design system conveys motion and motion trails in graphics, layouts, typography – and of course motion. A flexible and powerful platform for all digital and physical interaction with the brand. Launching Horse Powertrain as a purpose driven next-gen powertrain solutions provider.
